CD-ROM MAILERS / DIGITAL BROCHURES

Often, companies may take some web content they've developed and put it on a CD to send to new clients or current customers. The advantage of a CD is that you can put far more on it that what the average user could handle trying to download over the net. As a designer, it is often my job to organize the structure of this information, as well as turn it into an easy-to-access, visually pleasing experience. This usually includes a flashy animated intro and an interactive tour. They are a lot like the DIGITAL TRAINING creations and can even incorporate entire training modules within themselves, and thus are too data intensive for standard web surfers.

SAMPLE #1: SUN MICROSYSTEMS

Client Profile: Sun Microsystems, Inc. is a mega-corporation. The Internet exists due to the existence of a few core companies, and Sun is one of them. They provide industrial-strength hardware, software and services that power the Internet.

Project Challenge: Sun Microsystems needed a way to compile a large number of documents into one easy-to-use directory. This "Sun Sourcebook" needed to be flexible enough to stand alone as a CD ROM or work in conjunction with web-based material.

Project Solution: The final creation provided a clean interface which assists users in finding exactly what they needed, from product bulletins, brochures, and news-letters to manuals, white papers, and data sheets. After the Sourcebook project, I was also brought in to work on the creative conceptual work and written content for a Sun ad poster.

SAMPLE #2: ATOMICA

Client Profile: Atomica software provides a smart alternative to search engines. Search engines show you links, but Atomica's GuruNet goes beyond this. Their solution delivers authoritative definitions and facts on over three quarters of a million topics.

Project Challenge: Atomica needed a nice, clean interface for their CD ROM business card. The CD would allow interested users to download a free trial of their software, as well as run a flash demo of their product which was also on the CD. They also wanted help cleaning up the content and visuals on the first edition of their website demo.

Project Solution: I was able to provide all of the needed changes with a flash-driven interface. Graphics were styled to match their site, and the whole interface works seamlessly with their online content.

SAMPLE #3: CORRELATE

Client Profile: Interestingly, knowledge management solutions are showing up because computers have allowed for the gathering and storing of so much data that we now "have trouble finding what we already found." Correlate Technologies provides comprehensive and cost-effective solutions to this problem, particularly as it relates to the industry's tech-giants.

Client Quote: "Many compliments to your great handy work!!! I'll definitely pass your name along to this partner of ours..."
-- Dave Dexter, VP Business Development

Project Challenge: In a marketing push to show people what their products could do, Correlate offered a "business card" CD with a trial version of their software. I was asked to build a short, engaging interface that would introduce users to the CD, and allow them to easily navigate it's contents or install the trial software. Because seeing is believing, the primary goal was to get the CD recipient to install the trial software.

Project Solution: I wrote and recorded a voice over track to taut the benefits of their software. To give it more energy, the intro used larger-than-life visual fly-ins and expansive sound effects, as well as a customized soundtrack which I created. The interface was very easy to navigate and seamlessly integrated with Correlate's online site.
